A Musandam overnight dhow cruise is one of those experiences that genuinely cannot be replicated anywhere else. Khasab sits at the edge of the Strait of Hormuz, surrounded by fjords that most people in the UAE have never seen. Our luxury overnight cruise puts you on the water as the day trippers head home — giving you the fjords at sunset, under stars, and at dawn. This is Musandam the way it was meant to be experienced.

The dhow cruise Musandam overnight experience is built around what happens after dark. Dolphins alongside the boat at sunset, an Omani BBQ dinner on deck, and a night anchored in a cove so quiet you can hear the water against the hull. The following morning the fjords are yours before anyone else arrives. If you have done a day trip to Khasab before, this is the version that makes you wish you had stayed longer.
A standard day trip gives you a few hours on the water. The overnight dhow cruise Musandam experience gives you an entirely different relationship with the place. The light changes completely after the day boats leave — the cliffs turn orange at sunset, the water goes still, and the stars above the fjords are some of the clearest you will see anywhere in the region.
There is no rushing back to port. No schedule after dinner. Just the dhow, the crew, and one of the most dramatic natural landscapes in the Arabian Peninsula. For couples, families, and small groups who want to go beyond a typical Khasab tour, the overnight cruise is the obvious choice.
Our luxury dhows are maintained to a standard that makes overnight stays genuinely comfortable without losing the authenticity of a traditional Omani vessel. Private cabins come with quality bedding, air conditioning, and en-suite bathrooms. Shaded deck seating is available throughout the cruise. The dining area is set up for meals on deck wherever possible, so you eat with the fjords around you rather than below deck.
Everything on board is kept clean, maintained regularly, and inspected before every departure. Comfort and safety are not traded off against each other.
Guests who have never slept on a boat often ask what to expect. The honest answer is that most people sleep better than they expected. The dhow sits in a sheltered cove overnight — the water is calm, the movement is gentle, and the sound of the sea is a better sleep aid than most hotels can offer.
The crew manages lighting and noise on board from the moment dinner is cleared. Extra blankets are available for cooler nights between November and February. The whole experience is calm, unhurried, and very different from anything available on land.
The morning is what most guests remember most. Waking up anchored in a Musandam fjord, with breakfast being prepared on deck and the cliffs catching the early light, is hard to put into words. The golden hour in the fjords lasts longer than it does in the city, and there is no noise except the water and the occasional dolphin surfacing nearby.
Guests who bring cameras tend to run out of memory before breakfast is over. The early morning light on the Khasab fjords is that good.
The waters around Musandam are among the clearest in the region. Snorkeling stops at Telegraph Island and Seebi Island are included on the overnight cruise, with professional equipment and guidance provided for all levels. The coral reefs here are largely undisturbed and host a wide range of marine life.
Musandam is home to large pods of humpback and bottlenose dolphins that are active throughout the day and into the evening. Dolphin encounters are a regular part of every overnight dhow cruise — the fjords are their natural habitat and they frequently swim alongside the boat. The evening and early morning are particularly good times to spot them.
Guests can try traditional Omani fishing methods during quieter moments on the cruise. The crew provides all equipment and shares techniques that local fishermen have used for generations in these waters.
The sheltered coves where the dhow anchors overnight provide calm, warm swimming spots suitable for all abilities. The water visibility in Musandam is exceptional — you can see the bottom clearly in most anchorage spots.
First-time guests on a Musandam overnight dhow cruise are always surprised by how comfortable and well-organised the experience is. The crew manage everything — meals, equipment, anchoring, and safety — so there is very little you need to think about. The pace is slower than a day trip, which is the point. Come ready to switch off, stay hydrated, follow the crew’s instructions, and let the fjords do the rest.
All dhows operated by Khasab Musandam Tours carry certified life jackets for every passenger, standard emergency equipment, and communication devices. Crew members are trained in first aid and water safety. Vessels are inspected and maintained before every departure. Safety is not something we treat as a footnote — it is built into how we operate.
October through April is the most comfortable season for an overnight dhow cruise in Musandam. Overnight temperatures during this period range from 18 to 25 degrees Celsius — cool enough to sleep well, warm enough to enjoy the deck after dinner. The overnight cruise runs year-round. Summer nights on the water are warmer but the sea breeze keeps conditions manageable, and the fjords are quieter during this period.
The waters around Musandam are protected and largely undisturbed, which is why the marine life here is so diverse. Dolphins are the most common sighting — both humpback and bottlenose species are seen regularly throughout the year. Whale sharks, sea turtles, and rays are occasionally spotted. The coral reefs around Telegraph Island and the deeper fjord walls host an enormous variety of tropical fish species. Guests with an interest in marine life rarely leave disappointed.
The combination of location, privacy, and timing. You are in one of the most dramatic natural settings in the Arabian Peninsula, on a traditional Omani vessel, with nobody else around after sunset. The Musandam fjords at night and at dawn are completely different from the daytime experience most visitors get on a day trip from Dubai.
Contact Khasab Musandam Tours directly on WhatsApp at +96893552547 or through the booking form on this page. We arrange pickup from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. The drive to Khasab takes approximately 3 hours via Ras Al Khaimah. We handle the Oman border crossing at Tibat and all visa documentation.
We accommodate walk-in bookings when availability allows, but advance booking is strongly recommended particularly during peak season from November to March. Booking at least 48 hours ahead guarantees your cabin and allows us to prepare the dhow properly for your group.
While we accommodate walk-in bookings when possible, we strongly recommend advance reservations to guarantee availability, especially during peak seasons. Last-minute bookings may have limited cabin options and higher rates. For the best luxury overnight cruise experience and rates, booking at least 48 hours in advance is advisable.
One night is enough to get the full overnight dhow cruise Musandam experience including sunset, dinner on deck, a night in the fjords, and breakfast at dawn. Two nights gives you more time to explore remote coves, try fishing and kayaking at a relaxed pace, and spend a second morning in the Khasab fjords. If your schedule allows it, two nights is worth it.
Yes. The luxury overnight dhow cruise in Musandam is family friendly. Children enjoy the dolphin watching, snorkeling, and the experience of sleeping on a traditional Omani boat in the fjords. Life jackets are provided for all ages and the crew are experienced with family groups of all sizes.
The package includes accommodation in a private air-conditioned cabin with en-suite bathroom, Omani BBQ dinner on deck, full breakfast the following morning, snorkeling at Telegraph Island and Seebi Island, snorkeling equipment and life jackets, dolphin watching, soft drinks, fresh fruit, and water throughout. Personal expenses, optional premium add-ons, and crew gratuities are not included.
Most nationalities receive an Oman visa on arrival at the Tibat border crossing. UAE residents need a valid passport with at least 3 months validity from the travel date. A UAE exit fee of AED 35 applies when leaving the UAE into Oman. Contact us before booking and we will confirm the exact requirements for your passport and nationality.
The luxury version uses a larger private dhow with en-suite cabins, gourmet Omani meals prepared fresh on board, and a higher crew-to-guest ratio for more attentive service throughout. The standard overnight dhow cruise Musandam is a great experience at a more accessible price point. Both are available directly through Khasab Musandam Tours.

Telegraph Island, also known as Jazirat al Maqlab, is a historic island in the Khasab fjords where the British built a telegraph relay station in 1864 to connect Bombay to Britain via an underwater cable. The phrase round the bend is said to have originated from the stress of working there. It is now a premier snorkeling destination and is included as a stop on the luxury overnight dhow cruise Musandam.
