The luxury overnight cruise is a twenty three hour trip from Khasab Port on our premium vessel, combining a full day in the Khor Ash Sham fjords with a night anchored under open sky. Departure is typically 10:00 in the morning with return around 08:30 the next day. It includes dolphin watching, two snorkelling and swimming stops at Telegraph Island and Seebi Island, lunch, a live BBQ dinner and breakfast, comfortable bedding and, unlike our standard package, air conditioned interior space to retreat into. It suits couples, honeymooners, families wanting privacy and small groups. October to April is the best season.

The honest version: nobody sees more coastline on the luxury vessel. What you are buying is the night. Sleeping on an open deck in October is pleasant. Sleeping on an open deck in May, with nowhere cool to go, is not. If you are travelling in the warmer months, or a light sleeper is in your group, this is the version that makes the trip work rather than merely more comfortable.

If comfort matters but the night does not, our luxury  full day cruise gives you the same premium vessel for six hours. If the night matters more than the vessel, the private overnight package is better value.

What the Night on Board Is Like

We anchor in a sheltered inlet chosen on the day for wind direction, not from a fixed schedule. The cliffs block the swell, so the vessel sits almost still.

There is no light pollution in the fjords, so the star field is genuinely dark sky quality. Guests regularly report bioluminescent plankton lighting the water when they trail a hand over the side. We cannot schedule that, but it happens often enough to mention. If the deck is too warm or too exposed for you, the air conditioned interior is there. That option is the main practical reason to choose this package.

At first light the fjords are the quietest they get, before any other boat has left Khasab.:

Not included: Oman entry visa and border fees, mandatory Oman travel insurance bought at the border, personal expenses and swimwear. Return transfers from Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi and the Northern Emirates are available at additional cost.

 Getting to Khasab Port

Khasab Port is roughly 190 km from Dubai, a drive of three to four hours including border processing at the Tibat crossing. Your passport needs six months validity and a UAE residence or visit visa needs three months remaining. Oman travel insurance is mandatory at around 3 OMR per person.

 Booking and Cancellation

Send your date, group size and transfer needs. Children under four travel free and ages five to nine are charged at half price. Groups of ten or more qualify for a group rate.

Bookings are secured with a deposit. Cancellations are non refundable, but your deposit can be carried forward to a future booking. Contact us to change a date.

How long is the luxury overnight cruise?

About twenty three hours. Standard departure is 10:00 from Khasab Port with return around 08:30 the next day. An evening departure at 17:00 returning 16:00 the following day is available on request.

What is the difference between the standard and luxury version?

Same route, same stops, same duration. The luxury vessel adds air conditioned interior space, comfortable bedding rather than deck sleeping bags, cleaner washrooms with shower facilities, an upgraded BBQ dinner and more deck space per guest.

 Where do you sleep?

Comfortable bedding on the open deck under the stars, which is what most guests choose. Air conditioned interior space is available if the deck is too warm or too exposed.

Are meals included?

Yes. Omani lunch, a live BBQ dinner and breakfast, plus unlimited water, soft drinks, Omani tea and coffee and fresh fruit throughout. Tell us about vegetarian, vegan or halal requirements at booking and we will arrange the menu.

Can you see dolphins?

Sightings are common in Khor Ash Sham and dolphins often ride alongside, but they are wild animals and we do not guarantee them. This trip spends more hours in dolphin water than any day cruise, so it gives the best chance.

Is it suitable for children?

Yes. Life jackets come in children sizes, swim stops are supervised by our crew, and the air conditioned interior helps with younger children.

 What is your cancellation policy?

I want to thank Jamil my driver from Dubai and the whole Dhow Khasab Tours team for an awesome day trip. While it does take a long time to reach the tour spot from Dubai, it's not without its views. The border crossing is also super straightforward and that's where Jamil is a real star. He maneuvered us around the crowds to keep moving. The tour itself is gorgeous. The boats are quite simple as others have mentioned but comfortable. The views are spectacular and the water is gorgeous. The first snorkel spot exceeded expectations while they should probably switch out the second location due to seaweed growth. I wish I could share the enthusiasm of so many other reviewers but our tour was a total waste of time and money. Nothing wrong with the operator though: the boat was clean, the staff extremely helpful and friendly, drinks and fruits were served all the time. But 'airconditioned cabins"? No such thing which makes a trip a lot less enjoyable, especially during summer Great snorkeling and swimming? No such thing either since our stop was at an island under construction with unclear water and almost no view - not remotely what the pictures on the add display And yes, we saw one dolphin... Fantastic overnight excursion, beautiful scenery, dolphins, caught some squid, and the swimming was fantastic. The cabins have air-conditioning, while not luxurious, they're perfectly fine after a day's adventure. Shower and bathroom on each room of the larger Dhow boat. Communication with Dhow Khasab was seamless, and they were incredibly accommodating. The cruise was an amazing experience — breathtaking, untouched landscapes, dolphins, and fantastic snorkeling spots. We felt like we had the sea to ourselves, with very few other tourists around.
